Terms.

The pilot is free

There is no fee to register, to receive the Team Guide, or to record a run. In return we ask you to pick at least one of the two consent options at registration. That is the whole exchange.

What we promise Founding Contributors

Record a complete, honest run — both wall photographs, the honesty line, and the keep-or-go-back decision — and you get the full FOCUS book free on the day it is published, credit in the acknowledgements of the next printing exactly as you chose, and a referral code. Three teams registering with your code earns a printed copy, posted to you. These are Cohort 01 terms and they are the most generous that will be offered. A measured zero earns exactly the same as a win; the reward is for the recording, never for the number.

What you promise us

That the numbers are real, that the metric was not switched after you saw the result, that the photographs are of the same wall, and that you are allowed to share what you upload. The registry is worth nothing if it is not honest, and honesty is the only thing we police.

Your material

Your run and your photographs stay yours. By giving publish consent you allow us to show them in the public case registry and in FOCUS material — anonymised on request, and withdrawn on request.

Our material

The Team Guide, the plays, and the book are ours — free to use inside your own organisation, free to forward to a colleague, not for resale or for commercial training without asking. Ask; the answer is usually yes.

No warranty, and one piece of common sense

FOCUS is a method, not a guarantee. A run may move your number, or it may not — a measured zero is a legitimate outcome and we say so everywhere. You are responsible for the decisions you make in your own organisation. Nothing here is professional, legal, medical or financial advice, and nothing in a play overrides your own safety rules, clinical judgment, or contractual obligations.

Lineage

The five steps stand on Eliyahu M. Goldratt's Theory of Constraints (The Goal, 1984) and on Clarke Ching's FOCCCUS (The Bottleneck Rules, 2018), used with his blessing. Where the method's origin is told, both are credited.

Changes, and the law

We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when. They are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
